How We Remove Slate Roof

In order to remove a slate roof, we follow these four general steps.

  1. Use a slate ripper that cuts and/or pulls out the fixing nails between the slates.
  2. Pull the damaged slate out of the roof.
  3. Remove all nails associated with slate tile.
  4. Insert the replacement slate tile back into the right position.

Is a Slate Roof Right For You?

Homes with a classic, but casual look will benefit from having a textural slate roof, while contemporary homes or stately older homes are best paired with standard slate. Slate roofs work for homes in temperate or cold climates, since slate is not considered to be a cool roof. And since slate roofs cost up to three times that of a conventional composite roof, it is best suited for homeowners who are able to finance this project. However, if you are living in a home and think you will live there for a long time, then upgrading to a slate roof is a great decision. Over the long term, it is an investment that will pay off since you will not need to install another roof.
